Pont du Gard

Pont du Gard is a very old bridge in France. It is made of stone and was built by the Romans over 2,000 years ago. The bridge is located near a town called Nîmes in the south of France.

The Romans built Pont du Gard as part of an aqueduct, which is a system that carries water from one place to another. This aqueduct brought water to the people of Nîmes from a river far away. The bridge helped the water cross over the Gardon River. Pont du Gard is very tall and has three levels of big stone arches, making it look impressive.

People worldwide visit Pont du Gard because it is still in very good condition, even after so many years. It shows how skilled the Romans were at building things that last. The area around the bridge is also beautiful, with lots of green trees and the blue river flowing below. There is also a museum nearby where you can learn more about how the bridge was built and how it worked.
